Bishop Flaget Students Shine at District Science Fair!
This year, Bishop Flaget had 16 students in grades 5-8 who attended the district competition. Twelve of those students received superior ratings and will be heading to State Science Day in May at the Ohio State University.
Because of the hard work of the students and their teacher - Mrs. Kara Norris, Bishop Flaget Middle School was honored as the Outstanding Middle School.
Superiors were awarded to Tori Bettendorf, Noah Blum, Christian Brown, Corbin Brown, Cassidy Corcoran, Joel DeGarmo, Anna DeGarmo, Gabby Lapurga, Carly McCloy, Kachina McKnight, Dominic Villarreal, and Nina Williams. Excellent ratings were awarded to Nick Conrad, Jack Reisinger, Emily Preston, and Jera Copley.
Several Bishop Flaget students won special awards: Physics Awards ($50, a textbook, and a certificate) - Corbin Brown, Noah Blum, and Christian Brown, Biological Sciences Awards - 3rd place ($40) Tori Bettendorf and 1st place ($100) Carly McCloy, Governor's Thomas Edison Award in Biomedical Sciences - Gabby Lapurga, College of Oseopathic Medicine Awards - 3rd place ($40) Anna DeGarmo and 2nd place ($60) Joel DeGarmo.
Bishop Flaget Students Perform Well at City Spelling Bee!
Bishop Flaget had a fine showing at the City-Wide Spelling Bee on February 11, 2011.

Science Fair Superiors headed to District Science Day in Athens!
Bishop Flaget has 16 students headed to District Science Fair at Ohio University in March based on their performance at the school science fair held on February 3, 2011. Top honors were given to Jack Reisinger, Cassidy Corcoran, and Anna DeGarmo for their high project scores. (Each student will receive a $50 savings bond.)

Excellent ratings were awarded to Hallie Anders, Clark Coulter, Hanna Kemper, Karlee McGraw, Alex Norris, Max Rose, Katy Wright, Aubrey Zalar, Spencer Bost, Amanda Dicken, Nicholas Haller, Paul Hill, Emma Lanning, John Schafer, Foster Zalar, Kelsie Byers, Jose Dominguez, Mary Weisenberger, Andrea Alcorn, Hannah Arth, Sierra Cydrus, Landen Jenkins, Kaitlynn Mickey, Joseph Miles, Maddie Reed, and Bailey Zalar.
Outstanding Project Awards were presented to Joel DeGarmo - Biology, Aubrey Zalar - Chemistry, Jack Reisinger - Earth Science, Cassidy Corcoran - Health Science, Emma Lanning - Human Behavior, Anna DeGarmo - Microbiology, Noah Blum - Physics, and Sierra Cydrus - Plant Biology.
